Take intensive steps to nab all perpetrators: Meghalaya HC to Govt

SHILLONG, AUG 20: The Meghalaya High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the violence during Wednesday’s bike rally and asked the state to intensify action against all perpetrators.

Hearing PIL, the division bench of Justice HS Thangkhiew and Justice W Diengdoh observed that extensive damage was caused to public property including government and outstation vehicles, endangering citizens and school children, apart from desecration of statues of national heroes.

The Advocate General informed the court that some office bearers of the NGO have been arrested.

The court said more intensive steps must be taken immediately to apprehend the culprits and directed the government to file a status report on August 24.
