Meghalaya HC takes not of attack on 2 court vehicles, asks state to speed up probe into Aug 19 incidents

SHILLONG, AUG 24: The Meghalaya High Court has noted that two of its vehicles carrying officers were attacked and a PSO and a driver assaulted during the August 19 violence.

Hearing PIL, a bench of Justices HS Thangkhiew and W Diengdoh on Monday directed the state to produce case diaries in the two cases (Sl. Nos. 7 & 8) and to expedite probe in all cases, including the attack on a public transport bus.

The direction came after Advocate General A Kumar informed the court about formation of an SIT and filed a status report as per its August 20 order.

The court observed that apart from office bearers, no other arrests have been made so far.

The matter will be heard again on September 1.
