Govt to bolster cybersecurity infra: Meghalaya CM

SHILLONG, AUG 28: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday said the supplementary demand for hardware, including computers and scanners, is part of strengthening the state’s cyber security infrastructure amid rising threats from cybercrime and AI.

Replying to a cut motion moved by Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma, the CM said the government is putting in place a robust system, but even the most secure systems globally remain vulnerable.

Flagging risks in both software and hardware, the LoP said, “We have seen in Israel how pagers were used. Even while purchasing hardware, we need to be careful.”

The CM assured that personnel are being mapped and all safety steps are being taken, adding that modern attacks target online, financial and banking systems.
