VPP’s sack-Mantri demand unfair, NPP govt bringing job security after 30 years: MSSASA

SHILLONG, SEPT 12: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) has slammed VPP’s demand to remove Education Commissioner & Secretary Vijay Kumar Mantri.

MSSASA President Aristotle C Rymbai said the demand was unfair and unexpected from VPP chief Ardent Basaiawmoit.

“We didn’t expect such a statement from a respected elected representative,” he said on Saturday.

“Mantri is hardworking, dedicated and committed to reforms. He is kind and listens to teachers. He is only implementing policy cleared by government after due process,” Rymbai said.

He said SSA, adhoc and fourth teachers worked for 2-3 decades on fixed pay without job security.

“Now under CM Conrad Sangma, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Secretary Mantri and top officials, after stakeholder consultations, government has brought Structured Pay Framework. Salary will be based on length of service, service will be protected and CPF extended,” he said.

Rymbai said SPF needs improvement but through dialogue.

“All teachers – SSA, deficit, adhoc, fourth or government – do same duty, same hours. They deserve same pay and service benefits. Govt should bring uniform policy for all,” he said.
