SHILLONG, OCT 6: Putting to rest speculation over its chief spokesperson and former IPS officer M. Kharkrang being fielded for the Shillong Lok Sabha byelection, BJP state president Rikman G. Momin on Tuesday said the window for applications has closed.
Momin said nine names of ticket aspirants have already been sent to the party’s central leadership for a final call.
Asked specifically whether Kharkrang is in contention, he said, “I don’t know.”
When asked about former Nongthymmai MLA Jemino Mawthoh, Momin maintained, “I cannot tell you right now in front of you.”
He added, “Whatever, the application is already closed, whatever the applicants are there we have already sent to the central leadership.”
