SHILLONG, JUL 16: Jonathan L Pachau, 21, wanted in a POCSO and rape case in Laitumkhrah, surrendered before police on Thursday and was arrested.
East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said the accused walked into Laitumkhrah Police Station and surrendered before the officer-in-charge.
He has been booked in PS Case No. 100/2026 under POCSO sections 3/4/11/12 and PS Case No. 94/2026 under Section 64(1) BNS.
He will be produced in court.
The arrest comes days after an all-India lookout notice was issued. Police had also formed a team to trace him and coordinated with Mizoram.
Syiem had earlier said the victim’s statement and digital evidence have been recorded. The probe has revealed there are other victims.
“We have come to know that there are other victims also. They will also be examined in due course,” he had said.
Police have asked more complainants to come in and record statements and file FIRs.
A chargesheet will be filed once the investigation is complete, the SP added.
