SHILLONG, SEPT 3: The SIT probing the August 19 violence during the KSU’s black flag bike rally has arrested one more person, taking the total arrests to five.
East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said Samuel Kharbani of the KSU Nongmensong unit was arrested on Thursday after his involvement was ascertained.
Another member, Celestine Lyngdoh, who was also summoned to Mawdiangdiang police station in connection with a CBI case, was released after no involvement was found.
“After ascertaining facts, Kharbani has been arrested. Lyngdoh’s involvement was not found, so he was released,” Syiem said.
Cases have been registered under MMPO Act, PDPP Act and BNSS provisions for unlawful assembly.
Four KSU leaders were earlier arrested for the violence that left two vehicles torched, 31 vandalised and 18 persons assaulted.
