Two held with Rs 7 lakh heroin at Pynthorumkhrah in Shillong

SHILLONG, SEPT 21: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Meghalaya seized 40.12 grams of heroin worth about Rs 7 lakh from Pynthorumkhrah, Shillong and arrested two persons.

ANTF SP Vikash Kumar said the operation was based on intelligence that drugs were being brought from Silchar to Shillong.

A vehicle (ML-05-AD-1301) was intercepted at Pynthorumkhrah.

The two occupants — Jamir Hussain Laskar of Pangram, Cachar, Assam and Joy Ryntathiang of Nongmensong, Shillong — were arrested after four soap boxes containing heroin were recovered from the vehicle.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation is on to trace the source and network, the SP said.
