Meghalaya CM hands over 62 sanctions worth Rs 3.14 Cr at Tura

SHILLONG, SEPT 22: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday handed over 62 sanction orders worth Rs 3.14 crore under the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) and Chief Minister’s Special Grant (CMSG) at Tura.

The sanctions – 54 CMSDF works and 10 CMSG grants – will cover 40 Assembly constituencies across Meghalaya.

Significantly, 32 of the 62 beneficiaries are citizens who had met the Chief Minister directly during CM Darbars held in April, May, June and July in Tura and other parts of Garo Hills.

Their pleas were turned into sanctions in an average of 105 days, with 11 petitions from the July Darbar cleared in under seven weeks.

The remaining 24 cases were traced from office records and constituency registers, while eight were fresh proposals routed through MLAs and departments.

The sanctions focus on basic public assets in Garo Hills – Rs 90.3 lakh for 18 school buildings, repairs and toilets, Rs 81.5 lakh for 16 roads and pavements, Rs 47 lakh for six community halls and Nokma Kachari buildings, Rs 38.5 lakh for eight retaining walls and check dams, Rs 33.2 lakh for nine culverts, footbridges and sheds, and Rs 23.3 lakh for seven sports and youth initiatives.

Youth support includes assistance for the Open Inter-School Chess Championship in Ampati, Inter Mahari Football Tournament, youth excursion to Sikkim, exposure trips for students of Don Bosco Secondary School, Chandigre and Dalu Govt Higher Secondary School to Darjeeling, participation of youth delegates in World Youth Day 2027 in South Korea, and musical instruments for local bands.

The works will be executed by SHGs, School Managing Committees, Sports Associations, Village Development Committees and community institutions.

Key works include footbridge at Chasingre, CC approach road at Rongkhon Songgital, check dam and gabion wall at Amongpara, box culvert at Kongbangpara, school building for Jesus Blessings English School at Sonagre, basketball court at St. Andrew Secondary School, building for Babelapara Higher Secondary School, school van for St. Alphonsa’s School, community hall at Rimrangpara, CC jeepable roads at Chengkurigre and Gongglanggre, culverts at Nepal Chiga stream, retaining wall at Gambal Ading, playground at Rongkemgre, Adhoc LP School repair at Asibra and retaining wall at Tewaligre Catholic Church.
