SHILLONG, SEPT 22: In a major boost for the sport in the state, the Indian Rugby Football Union (Rugby India) has granted Provisional Affiliation to the Meghalaya Rugby Association (MRA).
The affiliation comes into effect from September 21, 2026, after approval by the IRFU Board at its meeting on September 19.
Rugby India is the official national governing body for rugby in the country.
With the affiliation, players from Meghalaya will now be eligible to participate in Rugby India competitions and development programmes. The MRA will also receive technical support from Rugby India to expand and develop the sport across the state.
The MRA has thanked Rugby India for its support and invited players, schools, colleges and clubs interested in joining to contact the association.
