SHILLONG, AUG 22: The body of a 23-year-old boatman who drowned while ferrying tourists was recovered after a two-day search operation at Wahrew, Sohbar.
The incident occurred while the boatman was ferrying three tourists.
The tourists were rescued by locals, but the boatman was swept away.Following an alert from the DDMA, East Khasi Hills, the SDRF and Special Rescue Team of Fire & Emergency Services launched a search on August 20 using a RIB boat, barbed wire, hooks and harpoon.
On August 21 at around 5.30 pm, fishermen spotted the body floating in the river. The SDRF, with help from locals and Bholaganj police, retrieved the body and handed it over to police.
