SHILLONG, AUG 19: UDP leader and West Shillong MLA Paul Lyngdoh on Wednesday said internal discussions were on in the party and urged the president to convene a parliamentary party meeting to resolve issues raised by legislators.
On reports of “rumblings” within the UDP, Lyngdoh said such debates are normal.
“There are rumblings in almost every political party but those are being debated and discussed as we speak,” he said. He stressed that the current focus should be on unity.
“The focus is on strengthening the bonding within the party,” Lyngdoh added.
According to him, the party council is of the view that grievances raised by UDP MLAs must be taken up immediately.
“The view of the council is that the party president should immediately call a parliamentary party meeting and discuss all grievances aired by the MLAs in the party,” he said.
On speculation of some UDP members joining the BJP, Lyngdoh said he could not comment.
“I have only heard rumours but I am not in a position to comment since I don’t have much information,” he said.
